GLENDA OBANDO – Candidate for President
It is an honor to be nominated for President of ATIF and thank you very much for such a vote of confidence.
As a member of ATIF since 2016, and ATIF Treasurer since January 2018, I have had the pleasure of seeing this organization’s growth in membership and the gratification from members at the benefits they receive in learning and continuing education opportunities, networking and raising awareness about the profession of translators and interpreters. I am an avid proponent of providing and supporting for all our members’ interests first and foremost. If elected I believe in continuing and developing better communication between members and end-users.
I have been in the T&I industry for over 27 years, first as a translation mentee, then as self-employed freelance translator and interpreter and then as a Court Interpreter. If elected I will endeavor to build and expand on the excellent work done by the current President and Board. I have been and continue to be a proponent of availing our membership of the top presenters available in the respective subspecialties as well of those that are trend setters of the T&I industry. Translators and Interpreters are always seeking good avenues of professional development at an affordable price point, and I think this goal should be continued for the benefit of our entire membership. I would be honored if given the opportunity to continue working on behalf of ATIF and its membership by earning your vote.

As a Board member, I aim to contribute with other board members to the expansion of our professional perspectives and membership, so that new and productive network opportunities may surface in the coming future. I hope to continue working in the organization of ATIF workshops and training events, an important ATIF tool in obtaining required professional certifications and connecting members with industry leaders and peers that can add greater value to our professional efforts.
I believe these aspirations can be best serve as a member of the ATIF Board and I very much appreciate your vote of confidence.
ANISOARA TUTOR – Candidate for Secretary
It will be a great honor to serve as Secretary of ATIF and to bring an added contribution to our organization.
My language-related career has started with translations performed during employment as a legal advisor and has switched to interpreting in 2010. I joined ATA in 2017 and I have immediately started the establishment of new certification for English to Romanian language combination, reaching out to T&I professionals and securing their support for this initiative.
In 2018 I became a licensed court interpreter in the state of Texas and in 2019 I joined ATIF, right after my relocation to Florida. It is my pleasure to help T&I professionals connect with each other and gain access to vary resources and opportunities. Therefore, it was only natural to start hosting the ATIF monthly gathering for Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Since then, I have made it a priority to continue this project, to present the membership benefits and to encourage new members to join ATIF.
My goal as Secretary will be to support the Board members in addressing various tasks. In addition, I will ensure professional and timely coordination and support to our members for successful events, gatherings and other activities specific to our community.
I am grateful for this opportunity to take on a new role and responsibilities. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
