The American Heritage Dictionary, Fifth Edition, released Tuesday, includes 10,000 new words. Some of them you’ll recognize. (“Hoodie: a hooded garment, especially a hooded sweatshirt.”) Some of them you won’t. (“Spaghettification: The extreme elongation or stretching of an object by tidal forces as it falls toward an extremely massive and compact astronomical body, such as a black hole or neutron star.”)
