Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (EST)

A 4-hour interactive online course that will focus on the great advance machine translation means for medical translators and in many ways for medical interpreters. Although much criticized, machine translation (MT) has become an extremely useful tool for medical translators and interpreters.
Pablo Mugüerza has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University in Madrid, Spain. He started out as an in-house EN-SP medical translator at McGraw-Hill Spain, in 1990, and soon became Head of the Translations Department for Spain and Latin America. He later began his career as a freelance medical translator and reviewer. For the last 35 years, he has worked for clients from all over the world, from large institutions (WHO) to tiny local translation agencies.

In the last 12 years, he has trained hundreds of students in association with companies based in America and Europe. Currently, he works as a freelance EN-SP medical translator (highly specialized in clinical trials documentation), as a Consultant for several Health Care Marketing Research companies, as an Enhancer or an Expert for Text Mining companies, and as a trainer for beginners (highly specialized in teaching “Medicine for medical translators and interpreters”). Three times a year he teaches an acclaimed course on the translation of clinical trial protocols, a subject in which he is considered a great expert.

This course has 4.0 CEP by the American Translators Association (ATA) and 0.4 CEU by International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA).

Awaiting CEU approval from Florida Court Interpreter Certification and Regulation Program (FCICRP) and the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
