A 4-hour interactive online course focusing on the selection of proper legal and medical terms vis-à-vis translation and interpretation. Translation theory, techniques and practice will be reviewed. The activity will be aided with PowerPoint presentation, guided practice, critical-thinking analysis for decision-making and group discussion.

Sandro Tomasi s a New York State staff court interpreter and certified as a medical interpreter by the State of Washington. Sandro is the author of the authoritative and acclaimed lexicographic work, An English-Spanish Dictionary of Criminal Law and Procedure (aka Tomasi’s Law Dictionary), and a contributing author of Black’s Law Dictionary, 11th ed., Cabanellas de las Cuevas and Hoague’s Diccionario Jurídico, Law Dictionary, 2nd ed., Fernando A. Navarro’s Diccionario de dudas y dificultades de traducción del inglés médico, 3rd ed., and a consultant on Dahl’s Law Dictionary, Diccionario Jurídico Dahl, 4th ed. Sandro has trained over 3000 professionals on T&I matters.

CE unit approval has been requested from Florida Court Interpreter Certification and Regulation Program (FCICRP), American Translators Association (ATA), International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA), and the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI).
