These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of atifonline.org (the “Site”) operated by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Florida (“ATIF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Site, creating an account, applying for membership, renewing membership, registering for events, or otherwise using ATIF services through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.
1) About ATIF
ATIF is the Florida Chapter of the American Translators Association (ATA), with membership open to individuals active in the fields of translation and interpretation.

2) Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use member services.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.

We may suspend or terminate access for suspected unauthorized use or violations of these Terms.
3) Membership Requirements and “Pending Review” Status
Membership is intended for individuals active in translation and/or interpretation. To be eligible, you must meet at least one of the following criteria and provide supporting documentation:

A minimum of three (3) years of proven professional experience in translation and/or interpretation; or
-
An accredited university degree in Translation and Interpretation (T&I) (or equivalent); or
-
Another eligible T&I certification, such as ATA certification, Court Consortium, U.S. Federal Court, NAJIT, or other qualifying credentials.
Pending Review:
Upon submission and payment (if applicable), membership may be recorded as “pending review” until all required supporting documentation is received by the Membership Chair at membership@atifonline.org. ATIF may request additional information as needed to complete the review.
ATIF may approve or deny membership applications in accordance with ATIF policies and eligibility criteria.
4) Bylaws and Professional Conduct
As a condition of membership, members must agree to abide by:

the ATIF Bylaws, and
-
the ATA Code of Professional Conduct and Professional Practice.
Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership, consistent with applicable policies and procedures.
5) Membership Term, Renewal Window, and Grace Period (No Auto-Renew)
ATIF memberships do not auto-renew.

The annual renewal period runs from December 1 through December 31.

A grace period is provided during the month of January.

If you do not renew by the end of the grace period, your membership may lapse and member benefits/access may be suspended until renewal is completed (and any required documentation is on file).
6) Dues, Fees, and Payments

Membership dues, event fees, and other charges (if any) are displayed on the Site at the time of purchase.

Payments may be processed by third-party providers (for example, Stripe). ATIF does not typically store full payment card details.

You authorize ATIF and its payment providers to charge your selected payment method for the amounts you approve at checkout.
7) Refunds and Cancellations
Membership Dues:

Events and Programs:

Charge Issues:
If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us at membership@atifonline.org (or the email listed on the event page) before initiating a chargeback so we can attempt to resolve the issue.
8) Member Profiles, Directory, and User Content (If Applicable)
If the Site includes member profiles, directory listings, comments, uploads, or other member-submitted information (“User Content”):

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your User Content.

You agree not to post content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, misleading, or that violates others’ rights.

You grant ATIF a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content only as needed to operate the Site and provide member services (e.g., displaying a directory listing), subject to any visibility settings available on the Site.

ATIF may remove or restrict User Content that violates these Terms or ATIF policies.
9) Acceptable Use
You agree not to:

Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

Attempt to access accounts, systems, or data without authorization.

Interfere with Site operations (including introducing malware, scraping, or excessive automated requests).

Misrepresent your identity, credentials, certifications, or affiliation.

Collect personal information about other users without permission.
10) Intellectual Property
The Site and its content (excluding User Content) are owned by ATIF or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from Site materials without prior written permission, except as allowed by law.
11) Third-Party Services and Links
The Site may integrate or link to third-party services (e.g., payment processing platforms or membership tools). ATIF is not responsible for third-party services, websites, content, or policies. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms.
12) Disclaimers
The Site and ATIF services are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ATIF disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the Site.
13) Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ATIF will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Site or services.
ATIF’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will not exceed the amount you paid to ATIF through the Site in the six (6) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing), unless a different limitation is required by law.
14) Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ATIF and its directors, officers, volunteers, employees, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

your use of the Site,

your violation of these Terms,

your User Content, or
-
your misrepresentation of credentials or eligibility.
15) Termination
ATIF may suspend or terminate your access to the Site and/or membership-related online access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, eligibility rules, the ATIF Bylaws, or the ATA Code of Professional Conduct and Professional Practice, or if necessary to protect ATIF, members, or the Site.
You may stop using the Site at any time.
16) Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
17) Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in such courts.
18) Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
19) Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any posted policies referenced herein (including membership criteria and event-specific rules), constitute the entire agreement between you and ATIF regarding the Site.
