Good Afternoon, All:
The Court Interpreter Certification Board has filed a petition with the Florida Supreme Court proposing amendments to the Florida Rules for Certification and Regulation of Spoken Language Court Interpreters. Proposed changes under SC14-1055 would extend standards in a manner uniformly applying them, with some limitations, to all persons providing spoken language court interpreting services in any court or court-related proceeding. The Board submits the petition for purposes of ensuring the quality of interpretation and accountability of interpreters will not differ substantially from one court or court-related proceeding to the next.
Interested persons wishing to file comments with the Court must do so in accordance with guidelines published in the July 15, 2014 edition of The Florida Bar News, which guidelines are accessible online at The Florida Bar News July 15, 2014. The same notice appears on the Court’s website at Florida Supreme Court.
Sincerely,
