This all-day, language-neutral, hands-on workshop consists of 30% lecture and 70% guided practice in transcribing and translating audio materials. The lecture portion will focus on the need for TT and its use in the legal setting, the role of the translator/interpreter as expert witness, techniques and protocols, and proper presentation of the TT to the jury. The training portion consists of individual transcription and translation of audio materials under the supervision of the instructor. Participants must bring a laptop and headset; a WAV pedal is highly recommended.
This is an advanced workshop geared to T&I professionals already working in the field. It will provide translators and interpreters with specialized training and techniques in TT and testifying as an expert witness. Although this is advanced training, all are welcome.
